Which port to leave from?
Several ports in Guadeloupe serve Terre-de-Haut. Your choice mostly depends on where you are staying on the main island:
- Trois-Rivières (Basse-Terre) — the shortest crossing, about 20 minutes. Ideal if you are staying on the Basse-Terre side.
- Pointe-à-Pitre — about 45 min to 1 h, convenient if you are arriving from the airport or the city centre.
- Saint-François (Grande-Terre) — served by Val'Ferry, about a 30-minute crossing (seasonal).
Operators and booking
Several companies run the route: CTM Deher from Trois-Rivières, Val'Ferry from Pointe-à-Pitre and Saint-François, and L'Express des Îles from Pointe-à-Pitre. Ferries run several times a day, with more departures in high season (December to April). Book your tickets ahead during busy periods and arrive at the port at least 30 minutes before departure.
Once you arrive
Terre-de-Haut is a small island that is easy to explore on foot. The village, restaurants and shops are clustered near the pier. To venture further (beaches, Fort Napoléon, Le Chameau), you can rent an electric golf cart or a scooter right at the port. As parking is very limited on the island, travelling light is strongly recommended.
Getting to Villa Kazarev
Villa Kazarev is located on the island's hillside, about a 10-minute uphill walk from the pier. Free private parking awaits you on site — a real advantage on an island where parking is scarce — along with an EV charging station, ideal if you rent an electric cart.
In short
- Fastest crossing: Trois-Rivières, ~20 minutes (CTM Deher).
- From Pointe-à-Pitre: about 45 min to 1 h.
- Several departures a day, more from December to April.
- On the island: walking, electric cart or scooter.
